Sudan coach Kwesi Appiah is optimistic about his team’s chances of qualifying for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

Sudan currently leads Group B in Africa’s World Cup qualifying campaign after an emphatic 3-0 victory over South Sudan in Juba.

This result pushed Sudan to the top of the group with 10 points from four games, two points ahead of Senegal.

In an interview with Akoma FM, Appiah reiterated his commitment to winning every challenge his team faces.

“In any competition, if the aim is not to win, then why are you taking part? My ambition is to ensure we achieve our goals in every competition,” he said.

Appiah highlighted his team’s motivation and self-belief, emphasizing that they will not underestimate themselves against any opponent.

“As I always say, the opposing team has 11 players just like us. Why should we think Sudan is any less capable? Our mindset is that we can achieve any feat we set our sights on.”

The Ghanaian coach is confident Sudan can make history by qualifying for their first World Cup under his leadership.

“I take each game as it comes, but I believe Sudan is not a walkover. If God permits, I am confident we will achieve World Cup qualification,” Appiah added.

Sudan’s upcoming home fixtures against Senegal and South Sudan will be crucial as they aim to solidify their position and boost their chances of making it to the 2026 World Cup.
