Kotoko boss Prosper Narteh Ogum has issued a heartfelt apology to fans of the club following their win against FC Samaretx which ended their seven-game run without a win.

The Porcupine Warriors have been enduring a poor run in the competition, particularly in the second round where they had only managed a win in nine matches.

However, Prosper Narteh Ogum finally led the team to victory against a more difficult opponent FC Samarex who maintained their grip on top of the table.

The league leaders were on a six-game unbeaten run having secured four wins and two draws including crucial victories against Medeama and Hearts of Oak.

The breakthrough moment, however, arrived in the 60th minute when Enoch Morrison converted a penalty to give the Porcupine Warriors the lead.

“We are grateful to our supporters for your support today. Sorry for causing you a lot of pain and letting you down along the line but you are the same people who can bring us up.

“On behalf of the technical team, playing body and IMC I say thank you.
None can be compared to you,” he wrote on X.

Irate fans had visited the club’s training grounds last week to stop their sessions prior to the match against Samartex with many calling for the coach’s dismissal due to the atrocious form of the team.

This led to an emergency meeting summoned by the Life Patron and owner of the record Ghana Premier League holder Otumfuo Osei Tutu II.

The outcome of the meeting meant that all stakeholders had agreed to allow Ogum continue with improvement.

The result means Kotoko are still 10th on the table with seven matches to end the season.

Kotoko will visit defending champions Medeama for their next game on Saturday, April 27, 2024.
