Juventus secured their first major trophy in three years by defeating Atalanta 1-0 to claim a record-extending 15th Coppa Italia title.

The decisive goal came just four minutes into the game, with Dusan Vlahovic finding the back of the net after receiving Andrea Cambiaso’s pass and slotting home from close range.

Despite later having a goal disallowed for offside, Vlahovic’s early strike proved to be enough for his side.

Atalanta pushed for an equaliser but were unable to break through Juventus’ defence, with Ademola Lookman and Juventus’ Fabio Miretti both hitting the woodwork in the closing stages of the match.

However, the victory was not without drama, as Massimiliano Allegri was sent off for dissent towards the end of the game.

While Italian giants celebrated their Coppa Italia triumph, Atalanta’s quest for their first trophy since the 1963 Coppa Italia continues.

Nevertheless, they have another opportunity to end their drought in the Europa League final against Bayer Leverkusen next week.

Both Juventus and Atalanta have already secured qualification for next season’s UEFA Champions League, with Juventus finishing fourth and Atalanta fifth in the Italian Serie A.

Atalanta’s remarkable journey sees them poised for the Europa League final, having capitalised on their qualification last season. They will aim to seize the opportunity and claim silverware when they face Bayer Leverkusen on May 22, 2024.
