Jurgen Klopp announces retirement from coaching

Jurgen Klopp has announced his retirement from coaching, ending his celebrated career in club football where he achieved success with Borussia Dortmund and Liverpool.

Klopp, who led Borussia Dortmund from 2008 to 2015 and then Liverpool from 2015 to 2024, stated that his decision was not made lightly.

“Let’s see what it will look like in a few months. Nothing is coming through at the moment,” Klopp said. “As of today, that’s it for me as a coach. I didn’t quit on a whim; it was a general decision.”

Despite stepping down from coaching, Klopp remains open to returning. He expressed a desire to stay involved in football and to use his experience and network to continue contributing to the sport.

Liverpool have already moved to fill the void left by Klopp, appointing Feyenoord’s Arne Slot as the new manager.

Klopp was recently seen at Wembley as a guest for Borussia Dortmund during the Champions League final against Real Madrid.
