Joseph Paintsil is on the verge of a move to Major League Soccer (MLS) club LA Galaxy, as he has been spotted in the United States to complete the switch.

The Black Stars winger was seen at his hotel with his agent Tony Appiah amidst reports of a transfer.

The formal announcement of the move is expected in the coming hours after Paintsil undergoes mandatory medical checks.

The Genk winger, who has spent six successful years in Belgium with KRC Genk, is believed to have agreed to a four-year deal worth approximately eight million euros.

As a Designated Player, the 26-year-old is expected to earn outside the MLS salary cap for players.

Paintsil’s departure from Genk will mark the end of an era, where he became a key figure and contributed significantly to the club’s success, including winning the league title once.

Securing the services of  Joseph Paintsil, who adds a dynamic dimension to their attacking lineup of LA Galaxy. The team had a challenging season last year, finishing 13th in the Western Conference and 26th overall.

Joseph Paintsil’s impressive performances for Genk, including 23 appearances, six goals, and four assists in the Belgian top flight this season, have attracted interest from various clubs, including Burnley in England. Negotiations with Burnley fell through last summer, and despite interest from Leeds United and Southampton, deals with both clubs did not materialise.

Fresh from representing Ghana in the recent Africa Cup of Nations in Ivory Coast, Paintsil’s move to LA Galaxy in MLS is anticipated to mark a new chapter in his football career.
