Crystal Palace forward Jordan Ayew has revealed that an impressive warm-up session ahead of their clash with Everton handed him confidence in scoring.

He ultimately found the back of the net with a spectacular effort underscoring the accuracy of his instincts ahead of the game.

Ayew’s goal, scored in the 66th minute, marked his first since December 2023, showcasing resilience and determination during a challenging period.

The Ghana international credited his productive warm-up, where he scored five consecutive goals, for providing the assurance that he would make an impact at Goodison Park.

“In the warm-up, I scored maybe five in a row, so I had a good feeling today! Sometimes things go your way, sometimes they don’t go your way, but you still need to keep pushing, and that’s what I’ve been doing throughout my whole career.

“It comes sometimes. You try, try, try… it could have gone up, but this time it was successful. Today things went well for me.

The forward emphasised the collective effort of the team, acknowledging a tough game against Everton. Despite conceding a late goal from Amadou Onana, Ayew expressed satisfaction with securing a point, especially considering the challenges of playing at Goodison Park.

Ayew also took a moment to praise former manager Roy Hodgson, who recently stepped down from his role. He spoke highly of Hodgson, describing him as a top manager and a crucial figure in his development both as a football player and as a person.

“When we speak about Roy, I have goosebumps because he’s been so good to me. He’s been a top manager, a top man. He’s helped me a lot, not only as a football player, but as a man as well, so I can’t thank him enough.”

With Ayew’s goal, he now boasts three goals and five assists in the Premier League, making him Crystal Palace’s second-highest contributor behind Michael Olise. The team remains focused on their objectives, showing optimism as they adapt to the changes following Hodgson’s departure.

Crystal Palace look ahead to the future with Ayew expressing confidence in welcoming the new manager and continuing their positive momentum in the Premier League.
