Ghana striker Jordan Ayew scored a remarkable goal, but it wasn’t enough as Crystal Palace settled for a draw against Everton in Monday night’s Premier League clash.

Ayew found the net for Palace amid the backdrop of Roy Hodgson’s resignation announcement earlier in the day.

Former Eintracht Frankfurt boss Oliver Glasner has since taken over the managerial reins from the 76-year-old Hodgson, who was sidelined due to illness but has now been discharged from the hospital.

Glasner was in the stands and was impressed by Ayew’s superb strike. He thumped into the far corner past Everton goalkeeper Jordan Pickford.

The goal initially seemed to secure three points for Palace before Amadou Onana’s late heroics altered the outcome.

Onana’s header from a corner in the 84th minute lifted Everton out of the Premier League’s bottom three, salvaging a point for the home side at Goodison Park.

Ayew’s goal marked his third of the season, contributing to a total of eight goal involvements this season (three goals and five assists), with only Michael Olise boasting more for Palace in the Premier League, with nine involvements.
