Jordan Ayew handed starting role in CAR game after Mali heroics

Ghana striker Jordan Ayew will lead the lines for the Black Stars in their crucial game against the Central African Republic (CAR) on Monday evening at the Baba Yara Stadium.

The 32-year-old earned his starting spot after climbing off the bench to score the winner in stoppage time against Mali, a performance that impressed coach Otto Addo.

The Crystal Palace forward will be joined in the starting lineup by Kamaldeen Sulemana and Fatawu Issahaku, the other new additions to the lineup. The trio replaces Tariq Lamptey, Ernest Nuamah, and Antoine Semenyo, who all impressed in the previous game but have been rotated out for this fixture.

Ghana’s victory against Mali brought them level on points with first and second-placed Madagascar and Comoros in Group I of the World Cup qualifiers.

A win over CAR would propel the Black Stars to the top of Group I for the first time in this qualification series, underscoring the importance of this match.

The Black Stars aim to build on their momentum and secure a crucial win, with Jordan Ayew expected to play a key role in their attack.
