I’ve gotten back my confidence – Kotoko forward Mukwala

Kotoko striker Steven Mukwala has expressed his confidence restoration after scoring a crucial goal against Legon Cities, signaling a return to form for the Ugandan forward.

Following an impressive first round of the ongoing 2023/24 Ghana Premier League season, Mukwala encountered a dip in form during the second round of the campaign, struggling to find the back of the net.

However, the 24-year-old bounced back over the weekend, netting in Kotoko’s 2-0 victory over Legon Cities in the Matchday 29 encounter.

With this goal, Mukwala has now tallied 11 goals in the competition, placing him just one goal behind the league’s top scorer, Stephen Amankona.

Speaking to the club’s website, Mukwala revealed his renewed confidence, attributing his success to the collective effort of the team.

“Yes, I’ve probably gotten back my confidence,” Mukwala said. “Scoring in each game gives confidence as a striker, so I thank the team because it’s really teamwork,” he added.

Asante Kotoko, currently sitting 10th on the league table with 40 points, will face Berekum Chelsea in the upcoming matchday 30 fixture at the Golden City Park.

The club aims to maintain their newfound form after a challenging period, during which they endured a seven-game winless streak.

The team’s resurgence follows an emergency meeting convened by the club’s owner, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, aimed at addressing underlying issues. Since the meeting, Prosper Ogum’s men have remained undefeated in their three subsequent games, indicating a positive turnaround in their performance.

With five matches remaining in the season, the 2021/22 champions are determined to finish on a high note, aiming to secure positive results in their remaining fixtures.
