I’m going to win the league – Zito defiant despite Kotoko form

Asante Kotoko have picked up one win in their last five games but their coach, Karim Zito, believes they have enough to clinch the Ghana Premier League title.

Kotoko’s title ambitions took a hit after they were held to a goalless draw against fierce rivals Hearts of Oak on Sunday at the Accra Sports Stadium.

The result leaves the record Ghana Premier League winners in fourth place, five points behind league leaders Bibiani GoldStars with five games to end the season.

Kotoko have picked up five points out of a possible 15 in their last five games.

Their underwhelming form throughout the campaign saw them partways with coach Prosper Ogum, who has since been replaced by Karim Zito.

Zito managed to guide the Porcupine Warriors to their only victory in their last five games when they beat Aduana FC last weekend.

Speaking about Kotoko’s title chances after their draw against Hearts of Oak, Zito, who has been vocal since his appointment said:

‘I’m going to fight till the end. When you look at the table, where we are lying, our chances of winning is very slim, but I say until it is over, it is not over yet.”

Kotoko are back in action on Sunday when they host Berekum Chelsea.
