FC Samartex coach Nurudeen Amadu remains confident that his team can overcome Raja Casablanca and progress fromSamartex the final round of the CAF Champions League preliminary stage.
The Ghanaian champions hosted the Moroccan side on Sunday at the Accra Sports Stadium in the first leg of their second-round tie. In an evenly contested match, both teams had their moments before settling for a 2-2 draw.
Despite missing the chance to secure a first-leg advantage, Coach Amadu took some positives from his team’s performance.
“I’m not a happy person, but I think we didn’t disgrace ourselves. It’s like the equalizer during the second half; we just dished it out to them and didn’t defend well in that situation. We were wasteful in front of goal, and that cost us,” he stated in his post-match interview.
As the focus shifts to the reverse fixture in Morocco next weekend, Coach Amadu is preparing his team for a resilient performance.
“We are aware that when you make minor mistakes, they punish you for it. Now we are going to fight because I have seen how they play, and I will also see how to strategize to go there. We will be resilient and go to fight them there,” he added.
With a clear understanding of their opponent’s style of play, Coach Amadu is confident that Samartex can put up a solid fight in Casablanca and secure a spot in the next round.
