Great Olympics don’t have luxury to drop points against Hearts of Oak – Pappoe

Former Great Olympics Director Fred Pappoe has backed the club to leave no stone unturned in their efforts to avoid relegation from the Ghana Premier League.

He calls for a concerted effort from all stakeholders of the club, as they strive to secure their position in the league for another season.

Facing a crucial encounter against their city rivals, Hearts of Oak, on Sunday evening, the two-time GPL champions find themselves embroiled in a battle to evade relegation from Ghana’s top-flight football competition.

Pappoe, the former director of the club, underscores the urgency of securing a victory, as they cannot afford to compromise on securing three points.

He states, “We don’t have the luxury to drop points. We don’t have a choice. The only choice we have is to win and win our last game too against RTU. We shouldn’t be in the mood for any other results other than a win. Even a draw will not be okay for us if you look at the other clubs trying to escape relegation as well. We have no choice but to win.”

Great Olympics recently boosted their survival hopes with a surprising 1-0 victory over Asante Kotoko on Sunday at the Dr Kwame Kyei Sports Complex and a 0-0 draw against Dreams FC.

However, the Dade Boys have endured a dismal season and are currently battling to avoid relegation from the top flight.

Positioned 15th on the league standings with 40 points after 32 matches, Great Olympics will leapfrog the 13th-placed Hearts of Oak, who have 41 points, if they emerge victorious in the Mantse Derby.

The high-stakes encounter is scheduled for a 6 pm kick-off at the Accra Sports Stadium.
