Ghana set for WAFU B U-20 final showdown with rivals Nigeria

Ghana will face off against rivals Nigeria in the WAFU B U-20 Championship final after both teams overcame semi-final challenges on Sunday.

The Black Satellites staged a remarkable comeback to defeat Côte d’Ivoire 2-1 in the first semi-final at the Stade Municipal, while Nigeria rallied to beat Niger 3-1 in the second semi-final.

The final, scheduled for Wednesday at the Stade de Kégué, will renew the fierce rivalry between the two West African giants.

Desmond Ofei’s Ghana squad is eager to reclaim the sub-regional title from Nigeria, the current champions.

This WAFU B U20 Championship doubles as a qualifier for the 2025 Africa U20 Cup of Nations, with only Ghana and Nigeria securing spots.

Success in the 2025 U20 AFCON will bring both teams one step closer to the FIFA U20 World Cup in Chile, as the top four teams will earn automatic qualification.
