The Ghana Football Association (GFA) has issued an official apology to Ghanaians following the Black Stars’ failure to qualify for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON).

In a statement, the GFA acknowledged the deep frustration and disappointment among fans, admitting that the team’s performance fell short of national expectations.

“We understand the disappointment and frustration this failure has caused, and we share in the pain and sadness of our beloved fans,” the statement read. “For that, we are truly sorry.”

Despite the setback, the GFA expressed appreciation for the unwavering support of fans throughout the qualifying campaign. The association reiterated its commitment to restoring Ghana’s footballing pride and promised steps to ensure improvement.

The Black Stars’ failure to qualify marks their first absence from the AFCON since 2004, a blow to a nation with a rich football history. The team finished last in Group F, failing to secure a single win in the qualifiers.
