Ghana 0-1 Angola: Black Stars players rated

Black Stars suffered defeat in their first match at the 2025 AFCON qualifiers against Angola thanks to a late strike from Red Star Belgrade forward Milson.

Ghana are now third on the Group F log with zero points to their name, just above Niger who also have zero points.

Here’s how the Black Stars players were rated.

Lawrence Ati Zigi- 6

The goalkeeper did not have as much to do throughout the game but looked assured when he was called into action. He made a routine save in the second half when Mabululu let fly from the edge of the area and also made a great save at the late stages of the match. He was not at fault for the goal.

Tariq Lamptey-5.5

The Brighton and Hove Albion man did not look as dangerous in attack at the start but came alive in the final moments, making his usual marauding runs. Defensively, he did not have much problems.

Abdul Mumin-4.5

The centre-back was poor in his judgement for the goal, setting the ball on the plate for the Angolans to score. He would likely be a talking point for some time.

Mohammed Salisu-6

A calm and collected performance from the Monaco man from the back. He also made great passes from deep as he looked to start the attacks. Not many problems with him.

Alidu Seidu-5.5

Siedu was played at left-back, an unfamiliar position and put in a solid shift defensively. In attack, he stretched the wing, helping Antoine Semenyo to cut in and cause some damage.

Thomas Partey-5.5

The captain on the day had an average performance by his standards. He was his usual calm in possession but many would have expected him to break the lines more often with his passes.

Elisha Owusu-5

He was not as present on the ball as Thomas Partey but did his job as the defensive midfielder as best as he could. He was replaced by Majeed Ashimeru.

Antoine Semenyo-5.5

The Bournemouth star was more effective in the second half, forcing a good save from Neblu and did connect well with Mohammed Kudus in some periods of the match.

Mohammed Kudus-5.5

Kudus tried to make things happen in the middle of the pitch with his dribbles but was mostly handled well by the Angolans. He should have scored a great opportunity he got at the end of the game.

Abdul Fatawu Issahaku-6.5

A chunk of the best attacks from the Black Stars came through him. The Leicester City man was good with his shooting and passing. He was eventually replaced by Joseph Paintsil.

Jordan Ayew- 5

The former Marseille man was mostly wasteful when he got the opportunity to score or make the final pass. He was getting himself in the right positions, however.

Majeed Ashimeru- N/A

Joseph Paintsil- N/A

Inaki Williams- N/A

NB: Players who came on after the 80th minute were not rated.
