Denmark midfielder Pierre-Emile Højbjerg is looking forward to revisiting the Allianz Arena, where he began his professional career with Bayern Munich back in 2013.

Højbjerg’s Denmark will come up against Serbia in their final group match in the Euro 2024 on  Tuesday evening.

The Tottenham midfielder expressed his excitement about returning to a place he considers home.

“This is where I took my first steps as a professional footballer. I made my debut here and learned a lot,” Højbjerg reminisced. “I got to know a lot of great people and had a great time here. The stadium is outstanding. I’m just looking back at the time I had with a smile on my face.”

Højbjerg will not only revisit fond memories but also face off against his former Southampton teammate and current Serbian national team captain, Dušan Tadić. Reflecting on their time together, Højbjerg highlighted Tadić’s influence both on and off the pitch.

“We spent a lot of time together. I saw him as a big brother. He was my teacher, if you like. He took care of me, not only on the pitch,” Højbjerg explained. “I’m not surprised that he’s done well. He’s a player who loves assisting, so we have to be careful about that. I respect Dušan a lot.”

As Denmark prepares for their upcoming match, they anticipate the return of key players like Anderlecht midfielder Thomas Delaney and captain Simon Kjær. However, Juventus winger Filip Kostić will be absent due to a knee injury sustained during a previous match against England.
