Eden Hazard’s recent comment claiming to be better than Ronaldo in pure football terms has sparked fire on social media.
Netizens have been divided on the former Chelsea and Real Madrid star’s remark with many backing their arguments with video compilations of Hazard and Ronaldo.
The ex-Belgium international who hung up his boots last year following a not-so-impressive stint with Real Madrid set the football community abuzz in a recent interview.
Speaking to French-based L’Equipe, the former LOSC Lille winger chose Lionel Messi ahead of Ronaldo as the greatest footballer. However, what has ignited the arguing prowess of football fans was to claim Ronaldo wasn’t better than him.
“Individually, Messi is perhaps the only one. Cristiano is a bigger player than me, but, in terms of pure football, I honestly don’t think so. Neymar, maybe. After that, he’s no better than me,” in an interview with L’Equipe.
