Euro 2024: Harry Kane’s goal not enough as England held by Denmark

England missed the opportunity to secure a spot in the last 16 of Euro 2024 after a 1-1 draw with Denmark in their second Group C match.
Gareth Southgate opted for an unchanged starting line-up from their previous victory against Serbia, aiming to clinch another win. However, the match did not unfold as planned.
Harry Kane opened the scoring for England in the 18th minute, firing a rebound into the bottom left corner after the ball broke to him in the box.
Denmark responded in the 34th minute when Victor Kristiansen slid a pass to Morten Hjulmand, who unleashed a long-range shot that deflected off the post and into the bottom left corner.
Despite several efforts, England struggled to create meaningful chances to secure a victory. Southgate introduced Conor Gallagher to stabilize the midfield and later brought on Jarrod Bowen, Eberechi Eze, and Ollie Watkins, but these changes did little to improve the situation.
The Three Lions remain at the top of Group C and are in a strong position to advance. Notably, England has never won their opening two games at a Euros.
The team will now shift their focus to their next game against Slovenia, where they will need to avoid defeat to qualify for the next round of the competition. As Euro 2020 finalists, England is poised to bounce back and fight their way through to the end.
