Emmanuel Antwi saves Kotoko as Aduana stunned at home

Emmanuel Antwi rescued a point for Asante Kotoko with a 79th-minute equaliser in a 1-1 draw against newly promoted Young Apostles in their Ghana Premier League clash on Sunday at the Obuasi Len Clay Stadium.

Kotoko, playing their first home game of the season at a neutral venue due to the renovation of the Baba Yara Stadium, struggled to break down Young Apostles’ defence despite dominating possession.

Young Apostles took a surprising lead in the 51st minute through Daniel Lomotey, putting Kotoko under pressure to respond.

Former Great Olympics midfielder Antwi eventually came to the rescue, salvaging a draw for the Porcupine Warriors with just 11 minutes left.

However, Kotoko will need to improve before their next match against Berekum Chelsea, as they failed to secure consecutive wins.

Meanwhile, Young Apostles are still searching for their first league win and will look to bounce back in their upcoming fixture against Aduana FC.

In a major upset, Aduana FC – typically dominant at home – were stunned by Nations FC, who secured a crucial 2-1 away victory at the Nana Agyemang Badu I Park.

Elsewhere, Bibiani Gold Stars earned a narrow win over Basake Holy Stars in a closely contested game at Dun’s Park.

Karela United were denied their first home win of the season when Accra Lions equalised in stoppage time to settle for a 1-1 draw.

Hearts of Oak, in desperate need of points after losing their opening two games, face Bechem United at the Accra Sports Stadium as they look to turn their season around.
