African football analyst Nuhu Adams has hailed Dreams FC for surpassing all expectations in their debut campaign in the CAF Confederation Cup, following their remarkable performance against Stade Malien.

The Ghana FA Cup champions secured a crucial come-from-behind 2-1 victory in the first leg of their CAF Confederation Cup quarter-final clash in Bamako on Sunday.

Experienced striker John Antwi’s brace sealed the impressive win for Karim Zito’s men, setting the stage for an eagerly anticipated return leg at the Accra Sports Stadium.

In an interview with Thierry Nyann on TV3’s Sports Station, Nuhu Adams expressed astonishment at Dreams FC’s achievement, emphasising their exceptional preparations and mindset for the game.

“For dreams to go all the way to Stade Malien and beat them, honestly, I am shocked, I never envisioned Dreams FC to do such a thing,” he Adams said.

“But they have done it and it tells you the sort of preparations and the mentality they went into the game with.

Adams praised coach Abdul Karim Zito for his role in the team’s success, highlighting Dreams FC’s journey from disbelief to surpassing expectations.

“I think coach Abdul Karim Zito has done well. For me, I will always say that they have exceeded their expectations. Because when they decided to go to the CAF Confederation Cup, alot of people didn’t believe they could even get to the group stage.”

The Still Believe lads’ quarter-final berth marks a historic feat for Ghanaian football, being the first achieved by any Ghanaian side in the last 20 years.

“Getting to the group stage was a big achievement for them and then advancing to the knockout stages for the first time in twenty years is another big achievement.Getting to the semi final in their debut season, would be incredible for the history books,” he added

Notably, Dreams FC’s away victory against Stade Malien in a knockout game adds to their impressive record in CAF competitions, making them the only Ghanaian club to achieve such a feat in the past two decades.

With their eyes set on further success, Dreams FC aims to advance to the semi-finals of the CAF Confederation Cup, building on their triumph in the MTN FA Cup last season.

As Dreams FC continue to defy expectations and make strides on the continental stage, their journey in the CAF Confederation Cup serves as a testament to their resilience, determination, and growing reputation in African football.
