Cristiano Ronaldo has achieved a milestone in his illustrious career after scoring his 900th career goal as Portugal secured a 2-1 victory over Croatia in their UEFA Nations League opener in Lisbon.

The 39-year-old forward marked the occasion by finishing off a cross from Nuno Mendes in the 34th minute at the Estádio da Luz, celebrating the landmark goal with visible emotion.

This goal was Ronaldo’s 131st for the Portugal national team. Throughout his career, half of his goals have been scored for Real Madrid, with the remainder accumulated during his time at Sporting Lisbon, Manchester United, and his current club, Al-Nassr.

Portugal initially took the lead through a goal by Diogo Dalot. Ronaldo’s strike doubled their advantage, but an own-goal by Dalot just before halftime brought Croatia back into the game.

The match was part of Group A1 in the latest edition of the Nations League, which also includes Poland and Scotland. Portugal will next face Scotland in Lisbon on Sunday.
