Bournemouth coach urges Semenyo to use hidden skill often

Bournemouth manager Andoni Iraola has encouraged Antoine Semenyo to frequently utilise his throw-in ability during Cherries games.

Semenyo, who started Bournemouth’s game against Arsenal in the Premier League from the bench, provided an unorthodox assist in the second half to Huijsen to level the game for the Cherries.

The Ghanaian set up his Bournemouth teammate following a throw-in on Arsenal’s left side of attack.

His perfectly timed ball met Huijsen, who rose highest to nod home for the visitors.

Bournemouth managed to come from behind to claim a 2-1 win and a league double over Arsenal, as well as a first away victory at the Emirates.

Despite the Cherries’ impressive season, on Saturday, the spotlight was on Antoine Semenyo, who left fans with a nostalgic feeling.

His throw-in was reminscent of what former Stoke City defender Rory Delap, who had a knack of causing mayhem from such situations, did throughout his career.

“We have two players who can have this kind of throw; Antoine and James Hill,” Iraola said

“We have tried to encourage players, especially Antoine, to use his long throw-in. We don’t have a very tall team but we have Deijn Husien, who is obviously a good aerial threat.”

Bournemouth are enjoying their best-ever season in the Premier League and are still vying for a maiden European berth.
