Asamoah Gyan opens up on past rift with Prince Tagoe

Asamoah Gyan has opened up about his past difficulties with former Ghana teammate Prince Tagoe, admitting that they did not see eye to eye for a significant period.
The former Black Stars captain revealed that there were misunderstandings between them, with Gyan suggesting that Tagoe had been misled by others.
In the past, both players had media spats. In 2018, Tagoe claimed Gyan shouldn’t have been made Black Stars captain following Stephen Appiah’s tenure, a remark that Gyan responded to by accusing Tagoe of riding on his name for fame.
During an Instagram Live session on Thursday afternoon, Gyan said, “Prince Tagoe was brainwashed. People said bad things about me to him. I didn’t see eye to eye with him.” Despite their past differences, Gyan acknowledged that Tagoe had always been a good person at heart.
The two players have since reconciled, with Gyan revealing that their relationship has improved significantly over the years. “He has a good heart, and he’s a good person. I now have a great relationship with him,” Gyan shared. He also disclosed that they recently had a long phone conversation, which further solidified their bond.
Gyan, who attended Tagoe’s mother’s funeral recently, expressed his support for his former teammate during this difficult time.
Gyan and Tagoe were both part of Ghana’s 2010 World Cup squad in South Africa, where the Black Stars reached the quarterfinals.
