Arsenal climbed back to the top of the Premier League standings with a win over Luton Town on Wednesday evening.

Mikel Arteta’s team, featuring several changes, managed to secure a victory against their hard-working opponents, reclaiming the top spot from Liverpool.

Captain Martin Odegaard opened the scoring for Arsenal in the 24th minute, capitalising on a defensive error by Emile Smith Rowe, who caused havoc for the Luton defence.

Shortly before half-time, Arsenal extended their lead as Japan’s Daiki Hashioka inadvertently deflected the ball into his own net while attempting to thwart Reiss Nelson’s attack.

Despite being plagued by injuries and even having a 16-year-old schoolboy defender on the bench, Luton put up a resilient fight and prevented Arsenal from running away with the game. Gunners’ goalkeeper David Raya made a crucial save from Ross Barkley’s free-kick just before the break.

With this win, Arsenal moved to 68 points, edging past Liverpool by one point. Meanwhile, Manchester City sits in third place with 67 points after their 4-1 victory over Aston Villa earlier in the week.
