Arne Slot lauds “stand out” Mohamed Salah as Liverpool maintain title charge

Liverpool’s head coach, Arne Slot, has singled out Mohamed Salah as the “stand out” performer in the Reds’ formidable attack, as the Merseyside club cruises at the league summit ahead of the final international break of the year.

Although Slot has been trying to duck questions about Liverpool’s credentials as title challengers, their performance in the league makes it glaring for all to see.

With nine out of 11 wins and five points clear at the summit of the league, and with four-time champions Manchester City made to play catch-up after ten games, Liverpool are looking like the team to beat in the Premier League this season.

Likewise in the Champions League, at the halfway point, Liverpool are the only side with a perfect record, winning all four games.

The Reds have scored 21 goals this season, the fourth-best in the English top-flight – and have conceded the least goals (6) in the league as well.

One fundamental part of Liverpool’s attacking efficiency has been forward Mohamed Salah, who bagged his 10th goal and assist across all competitions this season after scoring and providing an assist against Aston Villa on Saturday.

Salah’s 10 goals put him a goal clear of Luis Diaz in second place. Pressed upon his team’s attacking prowess, Slot said: “Mo Salah has the best numbers of all our attackers. All our attackers have good numbers but he stands out.”

Mohamed Salah recently surpassed Liverpool legend Robbie Fowler as the 8th top scorer in the history of the Premier League – and will be looking to add to his goals after the international break.
