Black Stars captain Andre Ayew has been honoured with the Goal of the Month award for January in the French Ligue 1.

Ayew’s spectacular bicycle kick, executed during Le Havre’s 3-3 draw against Lorient, earned him recognition for his extraordinary skill and contribution.

After a disappointing Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) campaign with the Black Stars, Ayew made a remarkable return to club football, coming off the bench to score a crucial brace in the thrilling encounter at Stade du Moustoir – Yves Allainmat.

Introduced in the 70th minute, the experienced Ghanaian attacker showcased his prowess by scoring twice in the dying minutes of the game, securing a valuable point for Le Havre. The match saw both teams exchanging goals, with Ayew restoring parity in the 85th minute after Lorient had doubled their advantage.

The captivating encounter concluded with a 3-3 draw, as Ayew’s late heroics salvaged a crucial point for his team.

The 34-year-old’s remarkable form continued, as he recently found the net again in Le Havre’s defeat to Strasbourg in the French Cup.

Ayew’s recognition with the Goal of the Month award is not only a testament to his skill but is also expected to provide a sense of relief amid challenges.

The forward has consistently proven his worth on the pitch, and with his recent accolade, he aims to maintain his impressive form in the ongoing season.

This feat comes on the heels of other challenges including his inconsistencies with club football. The former Olympique Marseille forward sealed a deal with Nottingham Forest last year but left that club at the end of the season after a difficult spell.

His departure meant he was inactive for a while before securing a move back to France where he has eventually made his mark with three goals.
