Bayer Leverkusen boss Xabi Alonso is determined to prolong his team’s unbeaten run as they chase an unprecedented achievement in football history.
Having already secured the Bundesliga title, Leverkusen are one game away from reaching their first European final in over two decades and are currently on an impressive streak of 48 games unbeaten. This streak sets a record for a team from one of Europe’s major leagues.
Alonso acknowledges the increasing difficulty of maintaining their unbeaten status each week, as every opponent is eager to defeat them.
Leverkusen’s unbeaten run places them in contention for an invincible treble, with the German Cup and Europa League still within reach this season.
“We want to stay unbeaten, and we know every week it gets tougher,” Alonso stated, emphasizing the team’s determination to continue their remarkable streak.

On Thursday, Leverkusen will host Roma in the second leg of their Europa League semi-final, holding a 2-0 advantage from the first leg in Italy. While the prospect of a European trophy excites the players, they remain focused on each game’s outcome.
“If we have to lose some games, such as the second leg 1-0, we will not say no if it takes us to the final,” commented Leverkusen midfielder Amine Adli.
“Our mentality is to win every game, but we know nothing is guaranteed, and we’ve seen plenty of comebacks in football,” Adli added.
Meanwhile, Bayern Munich’s hopes for a trophy were dashed as they lost in the second leg of the Champions League semi-final.
