Alidu Seidu wins Stade Rennais’ September Player of the Month award

Black Stars defender Alidu Seidu has been named the September Player of the Month at Stade Rennais.

The Ghana international outshined his teammates Ludovic Blas and Arnaud Kalimuendo to claim the award, securing the most votes from fans.

Seidu succeeds Amine Gouiri, who was the recipient of the award in August.

Seidu has been in impressive form for the Red and Blacks this season, playing in all four of the club’s matches throughout September.

His defensive prowess has earned him a notable place among Ligue 1’s top performers.

He ranks 6th in the league for blocks (10), and he’s the 3rd Stade Rennais player with the most interceptions. Additionally, Seidu is among the top 20 players in Ligue 1 for ground duels won this season.

The 24-year-old defender, who joined Stade Rennais from Clermont Foot in January, has become an integral part of the squad, making six Ligue 1 appearances so far this season.

Seidu will likely feature in Rennes’ next match against AS Monaco on Saturday, ahead of the international break, where he is also expected to play a key role for Ghana in the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers.
