Ghanaian music sensation Samini has vented his frustration at Ghana goalkeeper Richard Ofori for a critical error that contributed to the Black Stars’ elimination from the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON).
The Black Stars, hoping for a crucial win against Mozambique to advance in the competition, faced a devastating setback as they surrendered a two-goal lead in the dying minutes of the match. Jordan Ayew’s double from the spot had given Ghana a comfortable advantage, but the team conceded two late goals, ultimately resulting in a 2-2 draw and their exit from the tournament.
In a video posted on social media, Samini visually demonstrated the goalkeeper’s mistake, using a water bottle to illustrate the error made by Richard Ofori resulting in a corner kick that led to Mozambique’s second goal.
Expressing his disappointment, Samini joined the chorus of criticism against the Orlando Pirates shot-stopper, verbally expressing his frustration. The music star, known for hits like “My Own,” is among many Ghanaians who were disheartened by the costly error that contributed to Ghana’s back-to-back AFCON group stage exit for the first time in history.
