24/25 UCL draw: Cristiano Ronaldo honoured for outstanding goal scoring exploits

All-time top scorer of the UEFA Champions League, Cristiano Ronaldo, was honoured by UEFA with a special award for his remarkable goalscoring endeavours in the competition.

The award was handed over to the Al-Nassr man by UEFA president Aleksander Ceferin.

Ronaldo, who made his Champions League debut for Manchester United almost two decades ago, scored 140 times in 183 games.

His goalscoring cut across Manchester United, Real Madrid and Juventus, winning five Champions league trophies in the process.

Ronaldo played in six Uefa Champions League finals, winning five and losing one. Pressed upon to single out his favourite title winning campaign, the former Real Madrid man said:

“Well, it’s difficult to pick one but we always mention the first one. The first one is the most special one. I remember when I was in Manchester, I won and I scored in the final too; I missed a penalty too, but it was good. I remember that it was so special,” he revealed.

Ronaldo enjoyed the moment in 2008 scoring a crucial goal against Chelsea in an exciting final which ended 1-1 after extra-time. Despite missing his kick, the Red Devils eventually won on penalty shootouts to clinch their third and last UEFA Champions League.

The revamped Champions League draw has concluded with mouthwatering fixtures cutting across.
