2026 World Cup Qualifiers: We are ready to fight for the nation – Fatawu Issahaku

Leicester City forward Fatawu Issahaku says the Black Stars are prepared to give their all in their upcoming World Cup qualifiers.

Ghana failed to qualify for the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) for the first time since 2004 during last year’s qualifiers.

The Black Stars finished bottom of their qualifying group with three draws and no wins, climaxing the underwhelming year for the team.

Ghana picked up two wins in 2024, with both coming in the 2026 World Cup qualifiers, proving to be a potent ground for the team.

Locked on nine points with Comoros in Group I, Ghana take on Chad on March 21 at the Accra Sports Stadium.

The inspid performances from last year have discouraged Ghanaians from attending games and left a greater number of them skeptical about the Black Stars’ chances of qualifying for the 2026 World Cup.

However, Leicester winger Fatawu Issahaku, who is on a long-term injury after rupturing his anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) while on international duty in November 2024, has assured Ghanaians the Black Stars will give off their best.

“We still need your support and we are ready to fight for the nation as always, but we still need your support to get the victory and we hope to see you all in the stadium,” he said via the Ghana Football Association.

Ghana emplane to Morocco three days after Chad’s clash to contest for a fifth World Cup ticket.
