2024/25 EPL Gameweek 7 Review: Performances of Ghanaian stars

Mohammed Kudus finally got the elusive goal he’s long craved after weeks and months of search, whereas Thomas Partey’s versatility saw him lauded by thousands of Arsenal fans as he slotted in at right-back against Southampton.

3Sports analyses the impact Ghanaian stars had at their respective clubs over the weekend in the 2024/25 Ghn Premier League season

Arsenal, Thomas Partey

Thomas Partey excelled in an unorthodox role, filling the void at Arsenal’s right-back as regular starters Jurrien Timber and Ben White missed out on the Gunners’ 2-0 win over Southampton at the Emirates due to injury.

Partey put up a decent performance, making the most tackles (4), the most touches of any Arsenal player (96) and capping it off with a 95% pass accuracy.

Bournemouth, Antoine Semenyo

Bournemouth endured a surprising 1-0 defeat to struggling Leicester City at the King Power Stadium, as Andoni Iraola’s side failed to find their rhythm on Saturday.

Semenyo had minimal impact on the game, making one key pass and winning nine out of his 12 ground duels.

Leicester City, Jordan Ayew & Fatawu Issahaku

Jordan Ayew started but was later withdrawn as Leicester City defied the odds to pick up their first league win with a 1-0 victory over Bournemouth. Ayew had a peripheral role, winning six out of his 10 contested ground duels and completing 18 out of his 23 passes.

Meanwhile, Issahaku was introduced late in the game to help Leicester see out the win.

West Ham, Mohammed Kudus

It was a big sigh of relief from Mohammed Kudus as he took a deep breath before taking his seat after scoring against Ipswich, with the celebration carrying much significance this time after enduring a six-game Premier League goal-scoring drought.

The Ghanian star was the quickest to react to Michael Antonio’s effort as he leaped highest to head home from close range. Kudus’ first goal crowned a wonderful display after having four shots at goal, hitting the woodwork and merely misplacing two out of his attempted 30 passes.

Meanwhile, Brighton and Hove Albion’s Tariq Lamptey was an unused substitute as the Seagulls completed a stunning 3-2 comeback win over Spurs, while Kamaldeen Sulemana was out of Southampton squad with an injury.

Crystal Palace’s Jeffery Schlupp was also an unused substitute against Liverpool.
