Dreams FC are gearing up for a historic showdown with Sierra Leone’s Kallon FC this Saturday in Monrovia.

The Ghanaian FA champions arrived in Liberia on Thursday and are set to undergo mandatory training on Friday afternoon in preparation for the second leg of the CAF Confederation Cup’s second preliminary round.

Dreams FC previously triumphed over Kallon FC in the first leg held two weeks ago in Accra, securing a 2-1 victory thanks to a late winner by John Antwi. This outcome has set the stage for a crucial encounter where Dreams FC must either win or draw to secure qualification to the group stage.

This remarkable journey into continental football is a first in Dreams FC’s history and owes its origin to their achievement as MTN FA Cup champions last season. Initially faced with doubts about their ability to fund their participation, the club have defied the odds and now stand on the brink of achieving something truly historic.

In the previous round, they defeated Guinean side Milo FC de Kankan. With their first-leg victory against Kallon FC and the stakes high, Dreams FC are full of optimism about sealing qualification.

One key factor boosting Dreams FC’s confidence is the fact that their opponents were unable to secure approval from CAF to host the game in Sierra Leone, due to the lack of a stadium meeting international standards. Consequently, Kallon FC opted for the Samuel Kanyon Doe Sports Complex in Monrovia, a neutral venue. This neutral ground levels the playing field, ensuring neither side has a home advantage and allowing Dreams FC to focus on their task without the spectre of intimidation.

The last Ghanaian side to make it to the CAF Confederation Cup group stage, often referred to as the “money zone,” were Kotoko in 2019. Now, four years later, Dreams FC, a club founded just 14 years ago, aspire to make Ghanaians proud.
