Commonwealth Games: Boxing prodigy Abraham Mensah clinches Ghana’s third medal

Ghana’s Abraham Mensah has earned a medal for his country after booking a place in the semis in Birmingham.

Mensah squared off against Sri Lanka’s Rukmal Prasanna and came away with a victory in the quarter-finals of the Bantamweight division.

Mensah is guaranteed at least a bronze medal after reaching the semi-finals.

The 18-year-old won gold in the National Amateur Boxing championship earlier this year and this achievement serves as a further boost to his career.

He will aim to reach the final in his next encounter.

Mensah joins Joseph Commey and Abdul Wahib Omar as Ghana’s medalists at the 2022 Commonwealth Games so far.
