Coach Annor Walker departs Samartex after one season

FC Samartex have confirmed the departure of coach Annor Walker following a mutual agreement between both parties.

The veteran coach leaves the club after just a season in charge having joined from Great Olympics at the beginning of last season.

Following Samartex’s promotion to the top flight from the Division One League, Annor Walker was hired to help establish strong grounds for the Samreboi-based team to rub shoulders with the top teams.

The former Nania FC coach managed to finish in the top ten with Samartex after accumulating 46 points from 34 matches.

The club are now in search of a replacement after the departure of the 62-year-old gaffer as confirmed in an official statement via Twitter.

Walker led the Black Galaxies to the quarter-finals of the 2022 African Nations Championship (CHAN) tournament in Algeria, where they got eliminated by Niger.

He has been linked with a move to 2020/21 Ghana Premier League champions Hearts of Oak ahead of the upcoming season as they seek a permanent replacement for Serbian coach Slavko Matic.
