French midfielder Ngolo Kanté is set to complete a sensational transfer to Saudi Arabian outfit Al Ittihad.

The move comes after days of intense speculation and negotiations, with the player successfully passing his medical tests in London.

His move follows some setbacks suffered through injury which has rendered him inactive for Chelsea for a large part of the last few seasons.

The contract, which is said to be a two-year deal with an option for a third season, comes with a hefty salary package. Kanté will reportedly make €100 million per season, which includes not just his pay but also image rights, commercial deals, and a “creative” portfolio.

Having joined Chelsea in 2016 after winning the Premier League with Leicester City, Kante won the title again with the Blues.

On the international front, he has also won the World Cup with France after playing an instrumental role that helped Didier Deschamps lead Les Bleus to clinch the trophy in 2018.

The 32-year-old has also received multiple individual awards, including UEFA French Player of the Year in 2017, FIFA FIFPro World11 in 2018 and 2021, and UEFA Team of the Year in 2018.

Kante will join his countryman Karim Benzema who was announced by the club as a new signing on Tuesday.
