The Communications Director of the Ghana Football Association (GFA), Henry Asante Twum has revealed Black Stars will honour their late teammate Christian Atsu who died in the Turkey earthquake, during the Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers against Angola this month.

Christian Atsu will be laid to rest on March 17, six days after which the team take on Angola at the Baba Yara Stadium.

Asante Twum says it will be an opportunity for the players to appreciate the services of the former Chelsea man once more.

“All the Black Stars players are very sad about Christian Atsu’s death and the Black Stars will surely honour their late member Christian Atsu Twasam during our AFCON qualifier against Angola,” he  told Original FM

Atsu first played for the Black Stars in 2012 against Lesotho. He went on to make a total of 19 goal contributions in 64 matches for the National team.

He was very instrumental in the Black Stars 2015 AFCON journey which saw Ghana finish as runners-up after losing on penalty shootouts to Ivory Coast.

The former Newcastle man won the best player of the tournament as well the best goal with a stunner against Guinea in the quarter-finals.
