Ghana’s Black Queens put the opening day 1-0 defeat to host Ivory Coast behind them as they thrashed their Nigerien counterparts 9-0 in WAFU Women’s Cup. The match was played on Friday at the Robert Champroux Stadium. Three players – Portia Boakye, Janet Egyir and Jane Ayieyam – scored two goals each while Priscilla Okyere, Ruth Appiah and Grace Asantewaa scored a goal each. Niger is technically out of the tournament after recording a 5-1 loss to Burkina Faso, who later face the hosts. Ghana will face the Burkinabes in the final Group A game on Sunday.
