Ashantigold Sporting Club has been officially suspended by the Ghana Football Association (GFA) from all related activities.

The decision was taken during the GFA 29th Ordinary Congress held at the Great Hall of the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST)

This follows the club’s decision to continue engagement with suspended officials Kwaku Frimpong and Emmanuel Frimpong who were banned by the association following breaches of the GFA code of ethics through match manipulation.

Due to the alleged match manipulation between AshantiGold and Inter Allies the duo were banned by the GFA Disciplinary Committee for 10 years and 8 years, respectively while the clubs involved got demoted to the Division Two League.

Several players and coaches also got their share of suspensions following the ruling which was released before the end of the 2021/22 Ghana Premier League season.

However, the club’s decision to act against the suspensions has triggered the GFA to completely suspend the Obuasi-based club from all official football activities which was agreed by Congress.

The motion was moved by the Administrative manager of Dreams FC, Ameenu Shardow for the Ashantigold to be suspended but King Faisal bankroller Alhaji Grusah countered it which allowed a vote by headcount with 67 voting in favour of the motion against 17 who voted otherwise.

This implies Ashantigold cannot participate in GFA activities such as taking part in all competitions, among other things like having a say at subsequent Congresses.
