Leon Bailey drew Villa level with a well-taken strike after cutting in from the right flank, but Dominic Solanke restored Bournemouth’s advantage with a composed finish midway through the second half.
The game was filled with end-to-end action, with both sides creating plenty of chances. Emiliano Martinez was called upon several times to deny Bournemouth, blocking efforts from Solanke and substitute Luis Sinisterra.
Despite Villa’s pressure, it was Ollie Watkins who would ultimately earn his side a share of the spoils. The England striker, who had been a doubt for the match due to injury, came alive in the dying moments to redirect Moussa Diaby’s cross past the helpless Neto and score his eighth goal of the campaign.
The result sees Bournemouth climb to 14th in the table, while Villa remain in 19th place.
