Ansu Fati replaces Messi as Barcelona’s number 10

Barcelona have confirmed youngster Ansu Fati will wear the club’s iconic number 10 shirt following the departure of legend Lionel Messi.

Messi left Barcelona after 21 years and joined French giants PSG on a free transfer this summer.

Despite being just 18 years of age and still recovering from injury, Ansu Fati forms part of Barça’s history as a record-breaker and also with the Spanish national side.

Since his debut in August 2019, the youngster has set records in the league and Champions League. Just six days after his debut for the first team he became the youngest ever player to score in the league for FC Barcelona.

Ansu has been dubbed one of the most exciting young players of his generation, but he has a long way to go before he can match the achievements of Messi.

The Argentina international helped Barca pick up 34 major trophies during his time at Camp Nou, including ten La Liga titles and four European Cups, scoring 674 goals along the way – making him their all-time record scorer.
