Aston Villa will make a return to the English Premier League next season after a three-year absence. The Claret and Blue Army beat Derby County 2-1 on Monday in the promotion play-off at Wembley. On-loan striker from Lille Anwar El Ghazi opened the score on the stroke of half-time. The lead was doubled by John McGinn 14 minutes after the break. Though Frank Lampard’s side pulled one back in the 81st minute through Martyn Waghorn, it was too little too late for the Rams. Ghana’s Adomah played 73 minutes of the game, his place taken by Andre Green. Aston Villa become the final team to complete the English Premier League line-up for the 2019/20 season. Norwich City and Sheffield United had already qualified from the Championship. The qualified teams take the place of Huddersfield, Fulham and Cardiff City, who were relegated last season.
