The two-time champions came from a goal down to beat the Angolans 4-2 at the Olympic Stadium in Rades. With the fourth goal coming in the 84th minute, EST had to guard their goal to avoid elimination by the away goals rule. It was thus  unsurprising when the stadium was erupted into wild jubilation after Zambian referee Janny Sikazwe brought proceedings to an end. Ahly is scheduled to host the first leg of the final on Friday, November 2 while the Tunisians host the second leg exactly a week later.
