The Black Stars of Ghana continued their unbeaten run in the AFCON 2021 qualifier when they defeated Sudan by 2-0 at the Cape Coast Sports Stadium on Thursday afternoon.
Per CAF directives, game was played behind closed doors and under strict Covid-19 protocols.
Minutes to the start of the game, the Ghana Football Association comunicated that they have had greenlight from CAF to wear black armband and observe a minute silence for Ghana’s former President Jerry John Rawlings who passed away earlier today.
Akonnor handed Christopher Nettey his first start and played Emmanuel Lomotey and Afriyie Acquah in the midfield with Jordan Ayew as the lead striker.
Andre Ayew opened the scoring for Ghana on the 18th minutes with a sumpteous free kick after Jordan’s effort had hit the hands of a Sudanese defender.

Ghana continued their dominance in the the first half and had great chances at goal.
Sudan came back stronger in the second half but Richard Ofori denied them with some great saves.
Andre Ayew cut in from the right flank to place home the second goal on the day.
The result mean Ghana are still top of the group with 9 point.
