AFCON 2019: Ethiopian to referee Ghana-Cameroon clash

The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has named Ethiopian Bamlak Tessema Weyesa as the centre referee for the second group game for Ghana and Cameroon in the ongoing Africa Cup of Nations. The tough battle between the two giants, in Group F, will be played on Saturday at the Ismailia Stadium. Bamlak, 38, has so far officiated one match in the tournament. He was the man in charge of the 1-1 draw between Tunisia and Angola in Group E. He was assisted in that match by compatriot Samuel Temesgin and Sudan’s Waleed Ahmed Ali. He will, however, be assisted by Sudan’s Mohammed Abdullah Ibrahim and Kenya’s Gilbert Kipkoech Cheruiyot in Saturday’s encounter. The Fourth Official will be Algerian Mustapha Ghorbal while Guinea-Bissau’s Manuel Irenio Lopes Nascimento will serve as the Match Commissioner. Ghana and Cameroon share nine trophies between them with the Indomitable Lions in this year’s tournament as the holders. Namibia’s Titus Haimbili Kunamuene will be the General Coordinator.
