Four-year-old Jason-Mitchell is in urgent need of financial support to help him get medical treatment for leukemia.

The little boy finds himself at a critical point of his life which requires that he urgently gets a CAR-T treatment.

Attempts by his family to handle the situation alone for the past two years, have yielded little results, thereby taking a toll on the family’s finances.

The mother has been narrating the events leading to their decision to come public to appeal for support to help Jason’s deteriorating condition.

According to her, in 2019, the family was full of joy with the arrival of Jason. She said things, however, took an unexpected turn in January 2021 when Jason was diagnosed with high-risk acute lymphoblastic leukemia in Ghana.

Despite initial treatment successes, the harsh reality of limited resources led to a relapse in November 2022.

To ensure the best care, Jason’s mother made the courageous decision to relocate him to a higher facility in India, becoming his full-time caregiver. A successful bone marrow transplant brought hope, but the disease resurfaced, necessitating advanced treatments like CAR-T therapy and a second transplant.

The family’s global plea for help reached KK’s Women’s and Children’s Hospital in Singapore, offering a glimmer of hope. However, access to these treatments is selective and financially burdensome. After sacrificing careers and exhausting finances, the family are at a breaking point, urgently seeking support for the crucial CAR-T treatment.

While chemotherapy has begun temporarily, the looming need for CAR-T therapy and an immediate Bone Marrow Transplant hangs heavily. The family implores compassionate hearts and generous souls to join their collective battle against adversity.

It is worthy to note that Jason will be the 1st child from Ghana to have received such a therapy! The only advanced treatment ever made for Relapsed/Refractory Leukaemia in Singapore.

As it stands, Jason’s parents have to make a deposit of SGD200,000 (USD150,000) to secure the bone marrow transplant dates by 5th February 2024. However, the estimated ancillary costs involved is also around SGD200,000 (USD150,000) making it a total of SGD400,000 (USD300,000)

Already, the family says they have accumulated a debt of over SGD100,000 which forms part of the ancillary charges as they cannot stop any treatment that seeks to stop the disease from progressing.
