SONA 2022: Akufo-Addo admits current anxiety among Ghanaians over economic hardship

President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has admitted that there is a general sense of anxiety among Ghanaians at the moment regarding the economy.

“The Ghanaian people are anxious about the economy, the cost of living, income levels, jobs for young people, and even about issues on which we all thought we had achieved a national consensus,” he stated on Wednesday, March 30 while delivering the State of the Nation Address in Parliament.

But he insisted that a lot is being done by his government to bring back the economy to the good times prior to the advent of Covid-19.

He said most of the hardships, the world over, have been occasioned by the viral disease.

President Akufo-Addo noted that even Ghana’s management of the coronavirus was applauded by the world.

“Our management of the Covid outbreak has been exemplary,” he stressed.
