Founder and leader of the New Force Movement, Nana Kwame Bediako popularly known as Cheddar has underscored the need to protect and empower content creators in Ghana as part of his vision for the creative sector.
Cheddar who aspires to lead Ghana in future launched his ’12 pillars of economic freedom’ on Sunday, September 1 highlight his policies and plans as to better the lives of Ghanaians.
Touching on his intentions for the creative sector, Cheddar proposed the establishment of a world-class studio to serve as the creative hub of Africa.
“Ghana is the Black Star of Africa; this studio needs to be in Ghana. We need to build that studio,” he asserted.
Cheddar further lamented the challenges inhibiting the current system of the creative sector. He called for a protection and safeguard of the Intellectual Property (IP) rights of content creators.
“Royalties are not being effectively collected because we didn’t even build the machine. Today, the New Force has decided to build the right machine for pushing the Publishing Act that protect the IP of our content creators.
“We have to protect it, we have to claim the royalties, and we have to make sure that its circulating in our economy because they are part of us,” Cheddar noted.
