Rema donates ₦105m to church that opened shop for his mum after his father’s death

Nigerian Afrobeats artiste, Divine Ikubor popularly known as Rema has extended a kind gesture to the Christ Embassy church in Benin, Edo State.

Rema has pledged a contribution of a total of 105 million naira to various departments in the church in recognition of the help his family received years ago when his father died.

He made the donation on Sunday, September 1, 2024, while attending a service.

Rema conveyed his sincere appreciation to the church for its steadfast assistance, especially during the difficult time after his father’s passing.

In a video shared on Instagram, Rema acknowledged the contributions of the church in his life.

“I’m not here to give myself any accolades or glory. I’m here to give God the glory. It’s important to give back because the church has embraced me, prayed for me, and kept my spirit strong” he said.

Rema announced specific pledges, stating, “Firstly, I want to pledge N40 million towards the church’s infrastructure. I also pledge N20 million to Rhapsody of Realities. Since I grew up in the teen’s church, I’m donating N25 million to enhance its infrastructure. Additionally, I’m pledging N20 million to support widows in the church today.”

Rema also shared a personal story of how the church supported his family during a difficult time.

“When I was eight years old and lost my dad, we felt lost and abandoned. Everything we had was taken from us, and we felt very alone. I remember Pastor Joy and Pastor Thomas, the pastors of this church, opened a shop for my mum, which helped her take care of us,” he recalled.
