Nominees for the unsung artiste of the year category for the Telecel Ghana Music Awards 2024 have been unveiled.
Head of Communications at Charterhouse, Robert Klah announced the nominees on TV3’s New Day on Friday, April 5.
The nominees include; Kasar, Lali X Lola, Keeny Ice, Kwesi Amewuga, Seven Kizs and Alaptawan.
It’s been 11 years since the introduction of the Unsung category for the award scheme to throw more spotlight on some upcoming artistes to support them breakthrough to the mainstream industry.
“Over a decade having done this category for some time, we saw the need to help artistes who were not really breaking through but extremely talented. So, we thought that as a strong platform like this why not throw the spotlight on some of these folks and put them out there and by virtue of that they could just breakthrough,” Robert Klah explained the purpose of the introduction of the category.

Mz Vee, Kuami Eugene, Epixode, Dope Nation, Ebony Reigns of blessed memory, Kelvyn Boy are all artistes who have been through the unsung category of award scheme.
Explaining the criteria in selecting upcoming artistes for this category, Mr. Klah said one must be a good performer with a song, a reasonable number of social media following because the award scheme resorts to social media users to nominate the artistes.
He added that the scheme also considers upcoming artistes with regional or fanbase and not necessarily social media.
According to him, all these criteria prove the extreme talent of the artistes who only needs a spotlight to succeed.
